March 24, 2009- At 12:59 the Schuylkill Haven Fire Department RIT was disatched to 16 North 3rd Street, Hamburg Boro, for a working commercial structure fire. Engine 737 and Squad 739 under command of Chief 720 (Peel) handled the RIT assingment. 12 people from the department responded for RIT and assembled on the side of the building and awaited further instruction. Do to the overall size of the fire building the team was split up into 2 groups, one handling the south side and the other taking care of the west. Luckily neither of the teams needed to go into operation. However, as the fire was marked under control, the SHFD was utilized to give some of the crews from Berks County a "breather" and went in to perform some minor overhaul.
