February 26, 2010- At 17:16 the Schuylkill Hose, Station 2, was dispatched to assist District 34 (Friedensburg and Summit Station) on a house fire at 511 Coyote Drive (Lake Wynonah) , Wayne Township. Incident command Chief 34-05 (Heffner) arrived on scene and immediately asked to have his first full alarm dispatched as he found a working house fire with confirmed entrapment. The first full alarm brought in: Liberty Fire Company for Engine 737 and Tanker 738, Rainbow Hose for Ladder 725 and Squad 726 (cascade), Cressona Fire for Engine 41-17, District 47 for Tanker 47-32 and Engine/Tanker 47-10, District 39 for Tanker 39-30, North End of Pine Grove for Ladder 58-25 and Berks County Station 50. The American Red Cross was also dispatched for their Canteen Wagon to aide firefighters working at the scene.Once the initial units arrived on scene, they were met with heavy fire blowing out from the front of the residence and began on an interior/exterior attack. Crews were split up from OIC and did a primary search of the entire home. The first alarm apparatus arrived on scene and sent their manpower to the “manpower pool” in the front of the building and Engine 737 was asked to tag a hydrant and lay about 500 feet of LDH to the awaiting Engine 733/34-30 who were feeding the fire scene. After the primary and secondary searches were conducted, and a heroic effort by all involved, it is very unfortunate to report that there was still 1 fatality. **These photos were removed at the family’s request**
