November 26th, 2009 – At 16:57 Station 4 was dispatched along with District 47 (Landingville), District 56 (Orwigsburg), District 39 (Auburn), and District 42 (Deer Lake) for reported house fire at 106 Woodland Drive, just outside of Landingville, in South Manheim Township. After numerous calls to the Schuylkill County Comm Center, it was believed to be a house “well off”. Engine 737 hit the street in a matter of 3 minutes and was shortly met by a thermal column visible from Deibert’s Valley Road. E-737 was one of the first pieces of apparatus to arrive on scene and confirmed it to be a fully involved structure fire. Since the fire was out in the “boonies” portable dams/dump tanks needed to be utilized as well as numerous requests for a Tanker Task Force. Landingville Engine/Attack 47-11 and Engine 737 supplied the fire scene while Engines 56-10 and 42-10 layed LDH from the main road and dump tanks up the lane and supplied the fire scene. Soon into the fire, a defensive gameplan was used due to the overall deteriation of the fire building and blitzlines and Blitzfires were used for the “surround and drowned” operation. The Liberty Fire Company remained on scene until about 21:30.
