August 2, 2010- At 02:28 stations 2 & 4 were dispatched to assist Districts 47, 42, and 56 (Landingville, Deer Lake and Orwigsburg) on a house fire at 127 Woodland Drive, South Manheim Twp. As chiefs and apparatus were en-route, SCCC advised them of “no reported fire” with just smoke throughout the residence. Chief 47 (Hoffman) arrived on scene shortly thereafter and was met with visible smoke and fire from the residence. Engines 733 and 737 arrived on scene right at the same time. E-737 laid a section of LDH at the end of the driveway and E-733 was already setting up a dump tank for dump tank/tanker shuttle operations as Tanker 738 shortly arrived and was on deck to dump. Luckily the tanker didn’t need to dump there load as the interior crews made a great hit on the fire and saved the house from more considerable damage. At the request of Chief 47, station 1 was also added to the call about 20 minutes into the fire for their cascade system to fill air cylinders. The SHFD was busy and out of the borough for over an hour.
