September 7, 2012 – Early Friday approximately just after 2:30 AM the borough of Schuylkill Haven encountered a severe thunderstorm that produced winds in excess of 50 MPH and nickel sized hail. At approximately 02:44 Stations 2 & 4 were dispatched to the area of 400 Schuylkill Street for a possible transformer fire. Chief 723 responded to Schuylkill Street and the found power to be out in the area, but no fire. The borough electric crew was notified and Station 4 was re-called. A few minutes later Stations 1 & 2 were dispatched to the area of 314 Dock Street for wires down and no arcing. Crews secured the wires from the roadway and were placed available.
