December 27, 2009- At 20:24 the Schuylkill Haven Fire Department was dispatched to 42 Long View Drive, Schuylkill Haven Boro, for smoke in a house. Prior to the initial dispatch, On Duty Chief 722 (Sattizahn), was advised of the problem from 2 members of the department already on scene. After a call to the Chief was placed, it was decided to transmit a general alarm, bringing in the entire Schuylkill Haven Fire Department as well as an engine from Orwigsburg Fire (District 56). Engine 737 arrived on the scene and sent their crew to the basement of the house to remove the wood in the fireplace and check the downstairs for extension. Engine 732 and Ladder 725 sent crews to the roof to check out the status of the chimney and check the rest of the house for extension. Positive Pressure Ventilation Fans were set up throughout the residence to clear the smoke. The homeowner was advised to clean the chimney before starting another fire in the fireplace and all units were placed available in just over 30 minutes.
