Fire District 63

January 12-13, 2010- Move up Assignment/Working Structure Fire; Pine Grove Borough

January 12-13, 2010-  Just before midnight, the Schuylkill Hose was dispatched to 1 Orchard Street, Pine Grove Borough, for a stand bye assignment to Pine Grove HH&L station due to them being busy on the scene of a structure fire at 73 North Tulpehocken Street.  Engine 733 went responding and before they could even get into Pine Grove, they were re-diverted to the fire scene by incident command 58-06 (Sattizahn).  At the same time that they were re-directed, incident command asked to have a Tanker Task Force dispatched to assist at the scene of a working structure with mulitiple dwellings “well off”.  Tanker 738 from Station 4 was added to the run card as well as Ladder 725 from Station 1 for a second alarm Aerial.Once all the Schuylkill Haven units arrived on scene, they were all broken up into teams and began to assist the Pine Grove units with fireground operations.  The crews from Ladder 725 and Engine 733 were sent to the roof to begin doing a trench cut and the remainder of those groups and the crew from Station 4 were sent inside to attack the fire in one or more of the fire buildings.  This kept the majority of the SHFD busy for majority of the morning as we were met with heavy fire throughout all buildings affected.  Once control of the fire was established, command started to release some of the units on scene and Schuylkill Haven became the active RIT team.  Stations 1 & 4 were released from Pine Grove close to 05:00 while Station 2 remained on scene assisting Pine Grove with final “mop-up” duties and got back in station around 08:30.Companies operating on fire scene:  Districts 58, 21, 47, 34, Pottsville RIT, Joliett.  As well as Tankers from Berks and surrounding counties…**Pictures will be loaded to this site shortly, courtesy of MLK PHOTOS.  In the meantime, please check out:  coalregionfire.com**
