April 13, 2010 – MVA w/Unknown Injuries

April 13, 2010 – At 20:01 Stations 1 & 2 were dispatched to the area of Route 61 and Manheim Road for a motor vehicle accident with unknown injuries. When Chief 722 (Sattizahn) arrived on scene he advised county of a two vehicle MVA involving a tractor trailer and pick up truck with a large amount of diesel fuel leaking from the saddle tanks of the tractor trailer.Crews arrived on scene and quickly began to contain the fuel leak and assist the driver of the pickup truck.Due to the large amount of leaking diesel fuel, Chief 722 had Station 2 dispatched again for Utility 734 and Engine 732. He also had Station 30 dispatched out of Pottsville for their Haz-mat supplies to contain the Diesel spill.As more personnel arrived on scene they set up numerous dams and used a lot of floor dry to contain the leak. Chief 722 had command and units were on scene approximately for 4 – 1/2 hours until the towing company removed the tractor trailer from the scene.
