April 14, 2010 – At 01:04 The Schuylkill Haven Fire Department was dispatched along with Cressona Fire and Pottsville RIT to 1 Old Mill Road, North Manheim Township for a Working Commercial Structure Fire. As units from the borough became en-route, Chief 41-01 (Krammes) advised county of a fully involved commercial building and immediately requested a second alarm.Ladder 725 was the first to arrive on location and was faced with heavy fire conditions and immediately set their aerial up to start a defensive attack. Engine 732 quickly followed to the North Side of the building and stretched a hoseline to the rear of the structure. Engine 737 arrived on location and assisted in ventilating the structure by removing a garage door on the South side of the building.Due to the location of the building and the heavy fire load, setting up sufficient water supply to fight the fire became a very complex operation involving multiple water sources and Engines throughout the area. Tanker shuttles also took place near the north end of the building.Fire personnel remained on scene for more than 10 hours assisting with overhaul and equipment clean up. MLK Photos!!
