At 17:20, the Schuylkill Haven Fire Department was dispatched to 423 E. Union Street, Borough of Schuylkill Haven, for smoke in a house. As units became en-route, the Schuylkill County Communications Center upgraded the call to a working house fire. Deputy 63 (Reed) was the first to arrive on scene and confirmed a working fire to the rear of 423 East Union.
Deputy 63 quickly requested 2nd alarm due to the heavy fire. Engine 63-12 was the first to arrive on scene and stretched a line to the interior fire building. Engine 63-14 tagged the hydrant at Union and Margaretta Streets. The tower from Station 1 arrived shortly thereafter, and started ventilation.
The fire was quickly knocked down and units continued with salvage and overhaul. Pottsville City RIT also assisted at the scene as well as all second alarm units. Deputy 63 (Reed) had command of the incident. Photo courtesy of S3 Photos.
